Practice

Sonisense is my studio practice. I design physical computing instruments that translate data into sensory experience. A biological process, a walk through a city, the state of your attention: information you'd usually read on a screen, turned into something you play, hear and feel.

The work sits between disciplines on purpose. Each project starts from a question about perception. How do we come to know a thing? I answer it by building an object you interact with rather than a diagram you study. A photosynthesis instrument two people perform together. A soundscape that replays a dérive across London. A device that visualises your focus so you'll put your phone down. The medium is always the message, so the form has to carry the meaning before a single word of explanation.

Most technology asks you to look. I'm more interested in what happens when you make people listen, touch and take part.

Approach

I work end to end: concept, electronics, code, fabrication and the visual language around it. I'm as comfortable soldering a sensing rig and writing the firmware as I am modelling a phyllotaxis spiral in Blender or mapping audio to visuals in TouchDesigner. The theory matters as much as the build. Montessori learning, McLuhan, the psychology of attention, decentralised systems: the ideas are load-bearing, not decoration.

The instruments are made to be used, not just seen. They're built to survive a grad show floor with strangers playing them, and that keeps the work honest. If the idea only works on a slide, it doesn't work.

Background

I'm a graduate of Central Saint Martins (Graphic Communication Design, first-class honours, 2026), based in London. My practice pulls physical computing, sound, generative visuals and interaction design into a single way of working, using the tools of a technologist in service of a designer's questions about how people perceive the world.
